2021 – a Year to Remember!

We released OfficeRnD Hybrid

Throughout 2021 we received so many requests from companies asking us how they can use OfficeRnD to manage their corporate offices, similar to how coworking spaces work. HR departments and office managers wanted to create a more flexible workplace and were looking for ways to provide an outstanding work experience for their employees. After some careful consideration and brainstorming, we realized that helping them do that is part of our DNA and we thought that now we have the unique opportunity to change every office space out there. In no time, we formed a team and re-modeled, re-wired, and released the first version of OfficeRnD Hybrid – one of the most advanced and intuitive platforms for managing flexible and hybrid workspaces and boosting employee engagement.

In 3 short months after we released it, we’re serving now tens of corporate customers around the globe with thousands of employees!

OfficeRnD Flex is Becoming the Standard Coworking and Flex Space Platform

Who knew that most Coworking and Flex Spaces will thrive in the worst global Pandemic in modern history? It’s counterintuitive for sure, as most people expected short, flexible-term memberships to be the first to get canceled in such an environment, with stable, long-term leases holding steady. Well, surprisingly or not, we saw the opposite happen as people and businesses are rethinking their workplace strategies, reducing their lease footprint, and adopting more flexible space options.

These trends gave us even more confidence in our vision, so we invested heavily in our commitment to the coworking and flex space industry. We released more than 200 new versions of OfficeRnD Flex. We built a ton of new features, major improvements, introduced a new Analytics and Data Insights platform, and much more. We also doubled our team from below 60 people to 120 strong, which allows us to keep the momentum going and deliver 10x more value to customers next year! We believe 2022 will be bigger and better for the coworking industry than any other year before.

We Did the First FlexWorld Conference

Following our vision and commitment to the industry, we organized the first version of flexworld.io – a yearly conference where industry experts in flex spaces, hybrid work, real estate technology, company leaders, and workplace professionals share their thoughts, insights, and know-how during 8 panel discussions, Q&A sessions, and practical knowledge-sharing lectures. We Created and Released the First FlexIndex Industry Benchmark

At the start of 2021, we began building a data team at OfficeRnD. At first, we focused on uplifting our platform’s Analytics and Reporting capabilities by releasing the brand new OfficeRnD Analytics. Then, we started asking questions about COVID-19’s impact on the coworking and flex space industry. Has the industry fully recovered? Is it growing? How fast?

There’s only one reliable way to answer all these questions and that’s data. Our data team stepped on fully anonymized and aggregated data to build the very first industry benchmark called FlexIndex. The index comprises 5 KPIs that we believe are fundamental for all flex space businesses, like Desk Occupancy and Revenue per Available Workspace (RevPAW), as well as 3 indicators related to meeting space utilization. These 5 KPIs give us a very good overview of the industry’s health.

The first edition of the FlexIndex report (with data up to November 2021) has been downloaded by hundreds of people in the first week and we received a lot of encouraging feedback from both small and large players, as well as real estate industry leaders. Going forward, we will expand the index with more KPIs, such as hot desk usage, dynamic occupancy, and more.

We Raised $10m to Make Flexible and Hybrid Workplaces Work

In 2021, we also shared the news that we raised a $10m Series A round!

Despite the fact that people were not going to the office much in 2021, we received huge interest from venture capital investors. Investors firmly believe that the future of work involves the office, but not the traditional one. Like us, they believe in the new, flexible office that offers something much bigger than just a desk in a ‘chicken farm’ looking layout. No one wants that boring and sterile office. And very few people will return to it.

Today, people want to work in a hybrid way, where they chose where to work from – from the convenience of their homes, the awesome local coworking space, or their company’s fancy HQ. The future of work is the optionality to choose between any of those on a daily basis. At OfficeRnD, we’re on a mission to power this change and make it seamless for Coworking operators and Corporate Office Managers alike. Here’s to the bright (and flexible) future of the office!
