About the role
We’ve stayed ahead of our competition because of our ability to deliver elegant high-quality software on quick iterations, and we want to double-down on that. As an Engineering Director, you would play a vital role in getting our team and products to the next level by being an inspiring leader, people manager, a great communicator, and an avid issue resolver. Reporting to the CEO, and being a peer with the Company’s CTO, your role will be to make everyone in the engineering organization successful and remove all obstacles in the way of success.
What you’ll do:
- Lead a growing team of 4 engineering managers and 20+ talented software engineers to execute and deliver on the product roadmap with attention to detail and according to the customer needs
- Provide leadership and guidance to Engineering and QA Managers; lead efforts to train and develop each level of the staff
- Hiring, coaching and mentoring team members, and regularly providing feedback.
- Increase engineering capacity, productivity, and performance through world-class processes and operational excellence
- Identify, prioritize, and implement strategies to achieve the product vision
- Collaborate closely with Product Managers, as well as the company executives and as key stakeholders to ensure engineers understand business direction and how individual work facilitates end goals
- Prioritize and direct engineering schedule – balancing the creation of new functionality, immediate needs of existing customers, and augmentation and management of architecture and infrastructure
- Establish key performance indicators, metrics, processes, and focus to drive software development best practices
What you need to succeed:
- Solid engineering leadership experience (5+ years) of large teams with multiple levels of management
- Track record of building high functioning teams, including recruiting, mentoring, and retaining diverse talent
- Product experience is a must. SaaS product is a huge plus
- Customer empathy – be able to easily work with customers, understand them and communicate their needs to the team
- Experienced in architecting, building, deploying and maintaining large scale systems and applications
- Be an avid problem solver
- Be a visionary leader – you will drive the processes and the team
- Measure everything and make data-driven decisions
- Great interpersonal and communication skills – both in terms of internal and client communication
- Highly organized, yet comfortable in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
