Active Members
Active members refer to all people on a recurring membership plan or employees with a company on a recurring membership plan with your coworking or flex space. Drop-ins (irregular users) are often considered Active Members too.
Growing the number of active members is one of the most important goals of every coworking space operator.

How do you make your Active Members happy?
Furthermore, the next important element of running a coworking space is to keep your active members happy and engaged.
First, you should conduct a regular Member Satisfaction Survey (like a Net Promoter Score—NPS) to determine your current position.
The survey should inform where your biggest strengths and gaps. Here’s an unordered list of activities and tactics that we’ve seen help in making your members happier:
- Ensure your facilities are spotless and well-maintained. No one likes less than spotless facilities.
- Ensure rules are followed – for noise or other allowed or forbidden behaviors.
- Invest in infrastructure that works 99.9999% of the time – like WiFi, Access Control, etc.
- Ensure easy things are easy – like booking a meeting room via an easy-to-use portal or app.
- Listen to your members and provide the services they need – like more meeting spaces, phone booths or other things they may need.
