Getting paid shouldn’t require your team to chase invoices or manually verify bank accounts. For coworking spaces, the payment setup you run directly affects how fast members can join, book, and pay.
Our webinar, “Elevate Your Payments: Unleashing the Power of Stripe with OfficeRnD,” covered how the Stripe integration works inside OfficeRnD Flex, and what changed when Downtown Works moved to it. This recap pulls out the parts worth acting on.
The Stripe integration in OfficeRnD Flex lets coworking operators collect card and ACH payments, automate invoicing, and let members verify bank accounts and pay without staff stepping in.
If you missed the live session, here’s what came up.
David Adato; COO/CTO, Downtown Works
Downtown Works has used OfficeRnD Flex since 2018, but before integrating with Stripe, they were on PlacePay.
That provider didn’t meet their needs. Their number one goal is always “to be as operationally efficient as possible.”
They wanted members to go online and get access to everything without waiting for the Downtown Works team to respond or act. Stripe was how they got there.
Miro Miroslavov; CEO & co-founder, OfficeRnD
Miro moderated and ran the discussion with David around what it’s like to be both an OfficeRnD user and a Stripe 2.0 user.
Orlin Grigorov; Senior PM, OfficeRnD
Orlin walked through the key features of the Stripe integration and how it handles payment processing. From configuring payment method options to a live demo, he explained the benefits of using a payment service provider, and of using Stripe with OfficeRnD specifically.
Miro interviewed David Adato about his experience with Stripe 2.0. They covered user experience, security and compliance, and several other topics.
Here’s the conversation.
David explained that their first payment gateway, PlacePay, held back the member experience. Operational efficiency is a top priority for Downtown Works, and they wanted members to complete tasks on their own. With PlacePay, staff had to get involved in many steps of the payment process.
When the Stripe 2.0 integration let Downtown Works verify bank accounts instantly without staff involvement, they knew it was time to phase out the other provider. They ran both Stripe and PlacePay for about 3 years before deciding Stripe met all of their needs.
Adato sees clear value in letting members pick how they pay:
The more options you give someone to pay, the more likely they are to not only complete the checkout but continue the process.
He used Apple Pay when shopping online as an example, since it’s faster than typing in card details. Downtown Works uses all payment methods available in the United States (credit/debit cards, ACH, Cash App, Google Pay, and others) to give members options and make checkout easier.
Admins and members both want a portal with a clean, functional UI that’s secure and looks the part. Adato said that from the member side, Stripe 2.0 is a clear step up from the Stripe 1.0 integration.
He recommends anyone still on the original version upgrade to get the newer features. One example: if members have saved payment details with other merchants that use Stripe, they can select a saved card instead of typing it again.
That saves time at checkout. On the admin side, Adato said the integration adds a lot to the overall product. Miro also talked through product updates and new features in the works.
Stripe’s security controls, including regional parameters and risk management, let coworking spaces tell members their payment information is protected. Stripe keeps updating how it secures payment details.
As Adato put it:
There are things based on your region that they allow or they don’t allow, and in terms of just user data and user safety, I think it’s extremely important because we’re trusting both OfficeRnD and Stripe to process our members’ personal and private information.
The panel also warned against taking members’ card details over the phone. Use the automation and payment option features instead. That keeps your organization compliant.
Adato said Downtown Works charges members a 1.99% processing fee for credit or debit cards, though that number varies by organization. He noted Stripe’s general rate is 2.9% plus 30 cents per transaction, which still holds in 2026 for standard US online card payments.
Both Adato and Miroslavov recommend asking your Stripe representative about lower rates. Adato said he’s happy to pay for the Stripe integration because it gives Downtown Works and their members the freedom to complete payments with ease.
Adato said Downtown Works only uses a POS for their mini-market. He asked about integrating a Stripe terminal, and Miroslavov confirmed it was on the roadmap. Adato said he’d pay for a Stripe reader to make things easier.
It connects your Stripe account to OfficeRnD Flex so you can collect payments, automate invoicing, and let members verify bank accounts and pay without staff involvement. Memberships, bookings, and payments all sit in the same platform.
Stripe’s standard US rate is 2.9% plus 30 cents per successful online card charge, with no setup or monthly fee on the standard plan. In-person payments are 2.7% plus 5 cents, and ACH Direct Debit is 0.8% capped at $5. Rates vary by country and payment method, and high-volume operators can negotiate custom pricing with a Stripe representative.
Yes. Downtown Works charges members a 1.99% processing fee on card payments. The exact fee is up to each operator, and card network and local rules apply.
In the United States that includes credit and debit cards, ACH, Cash App, Google Pay, and Apple Pay. Giving members more ways to pay tends to lift checkout completion.
Adato recommends it. Stripe 2.0 verifies bank accounts instantly without staff involvement, lets members reuse saved cards, and improves the member-side checkout.
The webinar showed what integrating Stripe with OfficeRnD Flex does for a coworking operator: less manual payment work, faster onboarding, and more payment options for members.
Automate the payment process and your team spends less time on invoices and more on running the space and serving members.
